We understand that many of our patients have busy working lives and may not find it easy to get an appointment with us during the working day. To try to address this and in line with the NHS Long Term Plan, we are offering appointments from 07:30 throughout the week with GPs and nursing team as well as appointments available with the out of hours service.
Although these appointments are open to all, we ask that if you do not work and can be seen during the day that you do not request an appointment at these times. The appointments are all pre-bookable in advance.
The time when the Surgery is closed is called "Out-of-Hours" and this is being standardised to 18:30 to 08:00 every night except weekends and bank holidays.
Occasionally the surgery is closed for staff training. During these hours you can call NHS 111 by calling 111.
In an emergency you can dial 999 to order an ambulance. If you have been hurt in a accident you can go direct to the Accident and Emergency Department at Barnet General Hospital which has 24hour opening, however minor injuries can be dealt with at Finchley Memorial Hospital (See below)
NHS Walk-in Centres offer fast and convenient access to local NHS services, information and treatment without needing an appointment. They do not replace local GP or hospital services but complement them.
Finchley Memorial Hospital, Granville Road, Finchley, N12 – 08:00 – 22:00
020 8349 7470
There is routinely a doctor in the Walk-in Centre but occasionally the centre is nurse led. Senior nurse practitioners are available to see patients with minor illnesses and injuries. X-ray facility closes at 17:00.
Edgware Community Hospital, Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware, HA8 0AD – 07:00 – 23:00;
There is routinely a doctor in the Walk-in Centre from 10:00 to 20:00 daily. The unit is nurse led between 07:00 – 10:00 and 20:00 – 23:00. Senior nurse practitioners are available to see patients with minor illnesses and injuries.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
The practice will be open on Fri 10th and Mon 13th April from 8am–6.30pm. If you need an appointment or urgent advice, call the surgery and we will arrange for a GP to call you back. Due to COVID-19 we ask that patients do not come into the practice due to the risk of infection, so please call the practice first. After 6.30pm, if you have COVID-19 symptoms use NHS 111 at https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/. Only call 111 if you can’t get help online.
